Failure May Just Be What You Need

My Greatest Fear

Just like James Bond was scared of guns and Walt Disney of Mickey Mouse was afraid of mice, my greatest fear was the fear of Failure.
. . .
I couldn’t stand the sight of people saying words like, `Sorry Nonny. I heard you didn’t make it’. Just the thought of that had the capability of sending me into a blinding spiral of panic.
. . .
As a result, I stuck close to home. I stayed within my comfort zone, doing things I had no doubt I was going to succeed at. Taking on only responsibilities I knew I could crush without stress. Who even likes stress? Duh…
. . .
However, it only took a couple of years for me to realize the ditch I was digging for myself. By staying within my comfort zone, I was invariably denying myself of the opportunity to fail, to experience, to learn, and ultimately to grow.

. . .
You cannot to desire to succeed and at the same time hope never to fail. It is almost like trying to sneeze with your eyes open or attempting to lick your own elbow.
. . .
Every pathway to success or greatness has some of its junctions dedicated to failure. However, unlike what we think, failure is a friend and not a foe.
. . .
For embedded in it is the unique ability to help us stop hiding behind the limitations we have imposed on ourselves, prepare us for success and channel our focus on what lasts.
. . .
Therefore, as scary as it may seem, don’t just learn but actually do FACE YOUR FEARS. Step out of your comfort zone and dare to embrace your passion. For until then, your purported bright future is just mirage.
